The approach
We approached the identity with a focus on symbolic resonance and clarity. Drawing inspiration from local heritage, ceremonial imagery, and the event’s tradition, we constructed a visual system rooted in balance and structure.
The typographic treatment, choice of colour palette and the composition of graphic elements were designed to evoke a sense of presence, timelessness and community, without compromising readability or modern sensibility.
VIII Monte do Imperador — Visual Identity and Communication Materials
Identity system and communication materials for a heritage event.
The design is based on a combination of classical typography and a fresh color palette, ensuring that the material remains both respectful and visually engaging. Green was chosen as the primary color to convey freshness and dynamism, avoiding the excessive seriousness often associated with historical events. Its complementarity with blue brings balance between tradition and modernity.
The image of Charles of Austria was processed using a digital screen-printing effect with halftone patterns, creating a texture that references historical printing techniques while maintaining a modern execution. The overlay of his portrait with the house where he lived reinforces the connection between the event and its geographical and historical context.
The visual system was developed through iterative sketching and refinement, allowing key forms to emerge with clarity and purpose. Each element was considered for reproduction across a variety of materials, from print to event signage.
This graphic approach ensures that the event’s communication stands out in both print and digital media, fostering immediate recognition and reinforcing the identity of the initiative. The interplay between tradition and modernity—through typography, color, and image treatment—highlights the historical significance of the event while keeping it accessible to a contemporary audience.

The outcome
The final identity system delivers a cohesive visual language that supports the event’s character and history. Applied consistently across communication materials — including posters, programmes, signage and promotional assets — it enhances recognition, supports organisational clarity, and strengthens connection with the audience.
