Preserve the history of ancestors for future memory.

On July 24, 2019, São Roque do Faial hosts the launch of the book: Notas Históricas de uma Freguesia (Historical Notes of a Parish), by João Adriano Ribeiro, with a preface by Gonçalo Jardim.

The presentation of the book is in charge of Gonçalo Jardim, President of the Parish Council of São Roque do Faial.

The book presents us with the research work carried out by professor João Adriano Ribeiro, regarding the origin of the name of the parish, the evolution of local architecture, its role in the region, the way in which families subsisted at the time using agriculture, mills, sugar cane mill and a butter factory, also addressing the importance of some areas of the parish for tourism, such as Ribeiro Frio and Pico do Areeiro.

This work follows the dissemination and promotion of the history of the parish. The content covered resulted from the selection of information taken from newspapers and articles of the time.
