IMAGO

In October 2016, the Madeira Delegation of the Order of Architects opened its doors to the photography exhibition “IMAGO,” by designer and photographer Filipe Gomes. Curated by Duarte da Encarnação, this exhibition explores the duality of Madeira’s landscapes, between untouched beauty and the impacts of time and nature on human geography.

The photographs, captured in emblematic locations on the island, reveal a non-linear visual journey, which alternates between moments of serenity and impact. As Duarte da Encarnação highlights in the text on the room sheet, “IMAGO” goes beyond idyllic images to also show “the wounds of human geography” that, although discreet, mark the territory.

The inauguration, today at 6pm, is part of the cultural and academic initiatives of the Madeira Delegation of the Order of Architects in collaboration with UMa-CIERL, marking the contribution of the Organizing Committee of the II Jornada CIERL to the appreciation of island culture and design.
